The company, based in Torrance, California, employs 6,000 people in 14 countries.  The Challenge Garrett wanted to improve the collaborative capabilities of its design teams, which are spread around the world, with each other and with customers. It also wanted to simplify the training process and reduce the infrastructure costs required to support its UNIX-based CATIA V4 system.  The Solution Garrett is migrating to nine seats of CATIA V5 on a Windows 2000 Professional platform. Garrett runs CATIA V4 and V5 in parallel, and all new projects are created in V5. Digital mock-up capabilities are used to establish optimum configurations and orientations and to verify fit.
