What is the Trees of Knowledge? Program through Majesta for a chance to win a 20, 000 outdoor classroom. Applications including landscape drawings, specific materials, time lines, expense accountability, plans for sustainability, plans for promotion and uses for all the items in the classroom. Top ten schools from across Canada are chosen and then it is all about promotion. The top winners are based on public on line voting. There is even a prize for the most creative school promotions.

Where would this go?

So what does our dream look like? Life sized chess board where the children pick up the pieces and walk around the board to move them. You see chess in an entirely different way.

While you wait to play the huge board… Play on a board made of logs or carved out of a log seat.

Two pallet greenhouses to allow for planting year round. Also these allow for students to observe different stages of growth in plants.

When the season allows each class will have their own planter box, hopefully two boxes per class.

A recycled music station and a set of chimes.

Take some time in the shade to think about all the wonderful things you are learning about in the gazebo.

Sit on the circle of logs and have a discussion or sit in front of the chalk board and pull up a stump.

What makes us different? We added a recycled tire tiled walkway accessible to wheel chairs and any physical disability as well as textured walls for everyone, but especially meaningful to those on the Autism Spectrum.

Odds and ends We have also incorporated a shed for safe storage of materials, rain barrels for watering plants, compost bins, gardening tools, perennial area…
