Unit 7 Travel and Tourism A. Different types of vacations and things that people like to do when they travel. B. International travel and travel preferences and trends of the future.

Warming up questions  Can you name some places of interest in your home town? Describe them please.  What do you think most difficult when you are planning a trip? And what is your biggest worry?  When you travel, what activities do you enjoy?  Which means of transportation would you choose if you make a plan to travel? By bus, by car, by train or by plane, or by some other ways?  How would you like to travel, to make a trip on your own, with friends, or join a package tour organized by a travel agency?

Dealing with exercises on the textbook  Rank the items from I to 3 to know about people in the United States. And compare your own opinions.  How would you like to spend your vacation? Listen to some people talking about it. Finish the chart and write down one more thing the people like to do on their vacations.  What do you think you should carry with when you’re traveling?

New words: To rank: to put in order of importance  Historical: connected with the study of the past  Safari: a trip to watch, photograph, or hunt wild animals in their natural environment.  To hang out: to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone.  Whatever!: an expression meaning “It’s not important.”(informal)

Home work: 1.You need to travel from your home to a place 40 miles (64 kilometers) away. Compare the different kinds of transportation you could use. Tell which method of travel you would choose. 2.Should the university campus be opened to people?

Part B: Warming up activities  Write down the names of the continents on a piece of paper. Below the name of each continent, write in the English names of as many countries located there as you can. Then compare your answers in groups.

Possible answer  Seven Continents in the world: Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, North America, Oceania, Antarctica.

Listening activities  Hear some clues about each places in the pictures.and guess the locations.  Listen to the clues and guess the names of three more countries.

Talk about trends of traveling in the future
