Steps involved in developing a Career Portfolio Step 1: Collect  Gather as much information as possible from a variety of sources Step 2: Select  Relevance, what is important to you, think about why you want to include certain items, do them demonstrate your learning, skills or abilities Step 3: Reflect  Explanation, justification, proof, etc. Remember: Each grade at Vanier Collegiate has a portfolio requirement.

Action Plan Decision-making Process: Level A – Extend Knowledge Base 1. Reflect on what you know about the issue. 2. Research the issue. Find the facts. Level B – Make an Informed Decision 3. State the challenge. Explore the alternatives and consequences. 4. Make a decision. Set a personal goal. Level C – Carry Out Action Plan 5. Design and apply an action plan. 6. Evaluate progress. Action Plan Handout Creating an Action Plan for your goals Things to remember:  All components must be complete – use the checklist as a guide  Resume  Cover letter  Update your Graduation Checklist  Update your Volunteer Section  Goals (next four years – create your own)  Action plan for two goals  2 Additional Items  The checklist must be submitted with the portfolio with the student section complete.  You are more than welcome to add more items that what is on the list. REMEMBER – DO NOT FORGET TO REFLECT!
