Domestic Tourism Domestic tourism is the ‘backbone’ of the local tourism industry. It is important that you are able to read a table and describe it accurately.

“Describing a table” Turn to the table in your books on page 15. The table contains information on Domestic Tourism’s Growth rate. Answer Question Six on the worksheet: Tips: 1.ALWAYS use the figures for the most recent year. 2.Use specific figures (e.g. the NUMBER of day trips in 2008) 3.When describing growth rates you always need to mention the two years you are comparing (and whether the change was positive or negative!)

Geographical features of New Zealand Lake Taupo is of interest to tourists because… 1.History – largest volcanic eruption in the last 5000 years! 2.Adventure – kayaking and trout fishing trips are popular. 3.Cultural – Rare Maori carvings can be seen at Mine Bay.

Geographical features of New Zealand The Bay of Islands is of interest to tourists because… 1.Adventure tourists love the water activities (which include dolphin watching, hiring yachts, fishing excursions etc) 2.History – Russell was New Zealand's first capital and Waitangi is here! 3.The “Hole in the Rock” is an exciting adventure activity.

Geographical features of New Zealand Abel Tasman National Park is of interest to tourists because… 1.Eco-tourism. The landscape is incredible, the beaches have golden sands and the water is unpolluted and crystal clear. 2.There are a wide range of hiking, diving and snorkelling activities.
