The North Island, also known as Te Ika-a-Māui or The great fish of Māui. The South Island, also known as Te Waka a Māui or The canoe of Māui Both the North Island and South Island are full with different histories, cultures, people landscapes and scenery… But what makes Aotearoa NZ such a great place to live? And what makes it home for us?

It is the largest lake in Aotearoa NZ measuring 193km in perimeter and was created by a super-volcanic eruption that happened more than 26, 000 years ago!! What makes Aotearoa NZ such a great place live?

There are many Māori and English names given to towns, cities, mountains, rivers and harbours in Aotearoa NZ, all with rich history and heritage.
