Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven St. Peter Worship at Key to Life Saturday, May 17 th

Welcome to St. Peter! In spite of what you hear about there being many roads that lead to heaven, the Scriptures are quite clear that there is only 1 way to heaven through the Crucified and Risen Savior, Jesus. That’s what our church confesses because that is God’s truth.

Welcome to St. Peter! There are friendship registers at the end of each row. Please take a moment to give us your information so that we have a record of your time with us today. Thank you!

For Our Guests If you have questions, let us try to help. Speak with an usher, greeter, or the person next to you. If you’d like to learn more about St. Peter and its ministry, please talk to a pastor or member after the service.

Need to Know what’s going on? Our church website has the info you need right at your fingertips Check the church calendar. Sign up for seminars or events. Get access to devotions, sermons, and more.

Prayer before Worship Risen Lord, the joy in my heart continues over your resurrection from the grave. Keep worldly concerns from diluting that assurance and help me in this service to always center the focus of my spiritual life squarely on your tender mercy. In your name. Amen

Please be courteous and silence all pagers and cell phones. Thank you

Like the Golden Sun Ascending CW #147 Verses 1-5 Text: Thomas H. Kingo, Setting: WERDE MUNTER Tune: Johann Schop,

Verse 1: Like the golden sun ascending, Breaking through the gloom of night, On the earth its glory spending So that darkness takes to flight, Thus my Jesus from the grave And death's dismal, dreadful cave Rose triumphant Easter morning At the early purple dawning.

Verse 2: Thanks to you, O Christ victorious Thanks to you, O Lord of life! Death has now no power o'er us, You have conquered in the strife. Thanks because you did arise And have opened paradise! None can fully sing the glory Of the resurrection story.

Verse 3: You have died for my transgression; All my sins on you were laid. You have won for me salvation; On the cross my debt was paid. From the grave I shall arise And shall meet you in the skies. Death itself is transitory; I shall lift my head in glory.

Verse 4: Grant me grace, O blessed Savior, And your Holy Spirit send That my life and my behavior May be pleasing to the end, That I may not fall again Into death's grim pit and pain, Whence by grace you have retrieved me And from which you have relieved me.

Verse 5 (Please Rise): For the joy your advent gave me, For your gospel's great reward, For your baptism which has saved me, For your supper and your Word, For your death, the bitter scorn, For your resurrection morn; Lord, I thank you and extol you, And in heav'n I shall behold you.

Opening Verses Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen. Pastor: Oh, how I love your law! All: I meditate on it all day long.

Opening Verses Pastor: Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, All: for they are ever with me. Pastor: I have more insight than all my teachers All: for I meditate on your statutes.

Opening Verses Pastor: How sweet are your words to my taste, All: sweeter than honey to my mouth! Pastor: All Scripture is God- breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Opening Verses All: so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Pastor: Yet so often we have despised God’s Word and failed to gladly hear and learn it. For this and all our sins, we bow before God and humbly ask his forgiveness.

Confession of Sin All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.

Confession of Sin All: But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

(Pastor announces our forgiveness) All: Amen.

Prayer of the Day Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All: Amen.
