The Elf Owl By: Devin

Physical Characteristics: Description Source #10, 17 Coloring: This owl has pail grey feathers with yellow eyes. An elf owl has white between the eyes. The white eyes have just a little bit of brown. The bold wing of an elf owl has white so a predator will not see it in the snow like a polar bear. Size: This owl is 5 to 6 in. long. It is the smallest owl in North America. The smallest elf owl is a baby owl of North America it is 2 to 3 in. long. Physical Characteristics: It has big eyes. It eats all insects. There are little feathers on it’s little legs and toes. It’s toes are an x shape. An baby elf owls flight last 28 days in training. One thing not all people new is that hunting is an owls hobby.

Adaptations Source # 24, 8 Physical Behavioral Owls have talons to hunt prey and protect itself. An owl feels vibrations from another animal known as prey. An owls eyes help it see it’s prey from far away. Owls necks can bend easly to see it’s prey. Some owls put’s dead insects that they eat in their home so other insects can smell it so the insect will smell it and go into the owls den and the owl has something to eat. An owl has to be very silent to get something to eat. An elf owl can hear so good it can hear underground. An elf owl uses it’s talons to take down something delises. Elf owls are silent hunters and are very well at hunting prey and do what they do to survive.

Habitat Of The Elf Owl Source #____4_____ Arctic ocean North America Asia Europe Pacific ocean Atlantic Africa ocean South America Indian ocean Australia Antarctica Describe their habitat here: Thorn woodland, saguaro cacti and desert vegetation on the North American continent.

Food Chain of the Owl Source #_4________ The sun spider cacti owl The way a food chain goes for an owl is the sun gives it’s energy to a Cacti/Desert grass an bug will eat the Cacti and the Cacti gives the energy to the bug and The cacti will give the energy to the bug and the owl will eat the bug and the owl will get all the energy and it starts all over again. It is important owls have a sun, a cacti, a bug, and most importantly an owl. If none of us have a food chain then no living thing would be a living thing. 5
