2 Introduction Birds of prey live all over the world. They have sharp beaks and talons. They can hunt in the day and night.

3 Owls Owls hunt at night. They have big eyes to see prey in the dark at night.They have sensitive ears and sharp claws. Some owls dive into shallow water to get food.

4 Barn Owls Barn owls commonly live in barns. They discovered that barns are good places to live. They live in 4 different continents.

5 Great Grey Owls  Great grey owls are one of the biggest owls alive. They can live up to 40 years old. They can live in Canada, northern Europe, and northern Asia. They can grow up to 33 in. tall (84 centimeters.)

6 Northern Pygmy Owls  The northern pygmy owls are one of the smallest owls.  They eat lizards, insects, or small birds.  They live in western north America.  They can scare animals larger then themselves.

7 Great Horned Owl  Great horned owls have a famous hoot.  They live in forests, deserts, and plains in north, south and central America.  They eat animals such as chickens.  They hunt on quiet nights.

8 Falcon-like Birds  Falcon-like birds don’t need silent feathers.  They have sleeker bodies than owls.  They hunt during the day and sleep at night.  They don’t have big eyes like owls do.

9 Eagles  Eagles live in 4 continents.  Their wingspans can be as long as a bathtub.  Eagles are a well-known species of birds.

10 Falcons  Falcons live in tropical rain forests and the arctic tundra.  They can dive at 200 miles per hour (322 kil.)  They catch their prey in midair.

11 Vultures  Vultures are scavengers.  They eat animals that have diseases or are dead.  Vultures also find gas leaks.

12 Hawks Hawks have sharp eyes. They have rounded wings. They live in Mexico where it is hot and sunny. They eat lizards.

13 Kites Kites are scavengers and predators. They have a forked tail. They are lightweight birds.
