Mission of the Centre To assist in strengthening the VTET systems of SEAMEO member countries by enhancing their capabilities through networks and partnerships in the areas of training, research and development, and information services.

Major Programmes: Training 1.Regional Training. Fully-funded by the Centre and conducted in Brunei for participants from SEAMEO member countries (4-5 training programmes/year). 2.In-Country Training. Co-sponsored by the Centre and the member country to meet their specific training needs (1 week programme). 3.Customised Training. Offered and fully sponsored by a requesting organisation to meet their specific staff development needs. 4.Special Customised Training. Externally-funded or provided free by the Centre to the community.

Upcoming projects (GEMs) 1. Workshop on “ENHANCING RESEARCH NETWORK THROUGH COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH ON TRANSFERABLE SKILLS IN SOUTHEAST ASIAN COUNTRIES”. Brief Summary This project will focus on the integration of transferable skills (employability skills /common skills /life skills) in formal secondary and post-secondary technical and vocational education (TVE) in Brunei Darussalam and selected ASEAN member countries. This is a follow up activity of a collaborative research project spearheaded by UNESCO Bangkok, Thailand and Regional Cooperation Platform (RCP) on TVET teacher education. Status March Funding required is £12,000 - secured

Upcoming projects (GEMs) 2.ENHANCING RESEARCH NETWORK AND CAPABILITY BUILDING PROGRAMMES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS INVOLVED IN VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA Brief Summary This project will focus on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) research-based generation, management, and sharing through the enhancement of the existing research network called SEAVERN (Southeast Asian Vocational Education Research Network) established in To enhance the network, this project comprise two components: (1) expansion of the number of SEAVERN researchers by inviting new and potential researchers to participate, provide some fund for research activities, create avenues for sharing research findings, and stimulate the compilations of research reports in the Online Journal System; (2) Capability building programmes for the new members especially on research methods in various disciplines in TVET. Status Funding required over 3 Year period is USD$550,000 - unsecured
