Technology Era iPads integrate technology. Students need experience early with the technology available b/c it’s taking over the world. Help them later in life with the high demands of technology.

There’s an App for that! Endless free/low cost apps for everything, and they keep growing. So many useful educational apps that make learning fun. Apps for students with disabilities or ELLs.

User-friendly for all User-friendly for all User-friendly for students with disabilities. Great for enhancing and developing communication. Can help students lacking motor skills (touch screen). Variety of games and apps for ELL.

My battery is going to die! Books don’t need to be charged. Books don’t need to be charged. Lose their valuable materials for that lesson while it charges. iPads aren’t cheap  An iPad for every student and teacher can get expensive real quick. Always that chance that young, careless students may break the fragile device.

No Wi-Fi networks available. iPad use is often heavily dependent on the available Wi-Fi access. Can run into issues with all the devices fighting for Wi-Fi space. A slow or disconnected server can ruin entire lessons, or waste valuable learning time.

Distraction Easy and quick for students to pop on another site for personal use. Hard not to be tempted to check Facebook, games, pictures, etc.
