The In’s & Out’s of Community Service

Graduation Requirements:  Freshmen: 120 hours (15 Hours/semester every year)  Sophomores: 90 hours  Juniors: 60 hours  Seniors: 30 hours  Must have these hours in order to “WALK” at graduation

CRITERIA  Benefit community  Must be done outside of school day; exception-approved service activities  During the school day if tutoring or campus improvement projects  Cannot receive MONEY/PAYMENT or GRADES for work performed or hours contributed.

Examples of Community Service 1.Activities sponsored by school-based organizations for benefit of community & /or school (not monetary benefit for school) 2.Sponsored by community-based public, private, or religious organizations: a.Humane society b.Homeless Shelters c.Habitat for Humanity d.Charity walks/Runs (Breast Cancer/Alzheimer) e.Blood Drive Assistance f.Donating blood (1 Hour)

Activities/Service to school through principal-approved activities: a. clean campus grounds b. clean stadium, track, field, or court following home games c. assist during district parent nights or parent seminars d. reading to elementary school students e. mentoring younger student for academic purposes
