Life Insurance KW Traffic KW traffic dropped 24% in H year on year Looking at 2011, there has been 22% increase in traffic 10% more women search for Life Insurance terms Week days receive 6% less traffic on average than weekend days

Life Insurance in the News ‘Comparison service Confused.com revealed that 48 per cent of mothers do not have any life insurance cover in place to help families out during tough times. With statistics showing that 60 per cent of parents would like to assist their children in paying for higher education, the company has urged people to reconsider their decision not to extend their cover’ (Money News)Money News ‘The decision by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to ban the use of gender in insurance policies from December 2012 has been described as “disappointing” by the Association of British Insurers (ABI)…For life insurance: women could see a rise of as much as 20% in the cost of cover, while men could see a fall of 10%.’ (Insurance Daily)Insurance Daily ‘Insurers are taking advantage of a fundamental change in the way we buy insurance. Shopping online for the cheapest deal through comparison websites has empowered customers. But it allows insurers to offer eye- catching headline deals to reel customers in, before hitting them with extra charges and baffling small print.’ (This is Money)This is Money Prudential Risk Outlook (PRO) published by the Financial Services Authority (FSA): – ‘The regulator says that UK life insurers continue to face a number of medium to long- term pressures on profitability, explaining: “In particular, while new business flows are reportedly positive (up around 5% in the first nine months of 2010), net cash flows for the sector (premium inflows less claims and surrenders) … have been negative since 2008.” – According to the study, increased annuity payouts as people retire, “persistently” subdued demand for long-term savings products, increased competition from other types of products, and the decline of products such as with-profits policies, are all to blame.’ (Insurance Daily)Insurance Daily ‘Banks have been accused of selling homebuyers overpriced life insurance when they sign up for a mortgage. Insurance sold with a £200,000 mortgage can cost up to £300 a year more with some high street banks than insurance bought independently.’ (This is Money)This is Money

Consumer Trends in the News ‘More than half (54%) of adults in the UK do not have life insurance, despite two-thirds of those surveyed also having dependants. With half the nation financially unprotected should the worst happen, the figures further highlight the protection gap in the UK, which is projected to stand at £2.4 trillion, according to new research from Barclays…. The main reasons for not taking out insurance include not having dependants (25%), never having thought about it (23%) and believing it is not value for money (21%).’ (Mortgage Introducer)Mortgage Introducer ‘New research commissioned by Scottish Widows has found that 28 million Britons lack life insurance, leaving their family potentially open to financial vulnerability should the worst happen… An impressive 97% were aware of life insurance and its advantages but just 44% of people actually have such a policy. Critical illness coverage is similarly well- known, with 86% aware of it, but coverage for the product is a very low 12%...The findings follow those of Nationwide in April, which showed that families have more insurance protection for their property and possessions than they do for their persons.’ (Insurance Daily)Insurance Daily
