Program Code of Conduct The following are the expectations that every student in the HWDSB Hockey Skills Academy will adhere too Attitude The biggest stumbling block to players succeeding in hockey is a poor attitude Players that rapidly progress are those individuals that possess a strong work ethic, always open to learn, humble, and have quiet confidence Humble – modest, not grand or important, respectful, and courteous (ie. Wayne Gretzky, Steve Yzerman, Steve Nash etc.) School Players in the program will be held to the highest standard This course is a privileged program in the HWDSB Players are expected to attend all classes during the day and maintain passing grades Students not meeting expectations in other courses risk not being accepted for the hockey program in the future!

On-Ice Training “Mastery of any sport skill will take a minimum of 10,000 hours” The on-ice portion of the program will be the most fun and beneficial part of your day BE ON TIME! Ice time costs money The focus of all ice sessions will be the improvement of your core skills (Skating, Shooting, Stickhandling, Passing and Small Area Games) Typical lessons follow this agenda: Warm-up/Shoot Around 10 min Full Ice Lesson 10 - 15 min Stations and Circuits 15 - 20 min Scrimmage/Games 10 min We have wide range of abilities on the ice, it is critical that everyone has respect for each other The course allows you to challenge yourself to improve your individual skills
