Animal Research By: Yarelis Rivera African Wild Dog

K-W-L What I know: The African Wild dog runs really fast It has fur It eats deer It is black and brown

K-W-L What I want to know: What other animals do they eat? Where do they live? Is it a mammal?

K-W-L What I learned: The African Wild dog is known as the painted dog or the cape hunting dog and painted wolf It is most easily identified from both domestic and other wild dogs by their brightly mottled fur. Their colors are red, black, white, brown, yellow, and gold. They have large ears They are mostly found in deserts The number of African Wild Dogs is decreasing

Adaptations African Wild Dogs have fur to stay warm They also have really sharp teeth to hunt their prey They have claws to help them catch the animal they will eat

Food Sources African Wild Dogs primarily prey on large animals such as warthogs and numerous species of antelope, supplementing their diets with rodents, lizards, birds and insects

Food Sources

Natural Habitat African Wild Dogs are found naturally roaming the deserts, open-plains and arid savanna of sub-Saharan Africa where the range of the African Wild Dog has decreased rapidly.
