This dance began in the United States as a way for African Americans to work towards equality. It also allowed them to express themselves and show how they are feeling. It is now performed by many different races in many different countries! The inspiration for this dance can be many things including equality, expressing yourself, or just for entertainment. BACK

The Irish River Dance began in Ireland. It started as a way to express political opinions, but it is now more commonly used for entertainment. BACK

It originated with the Hindu religion, but now is a term used for a culture of movies, music, and dance. Bollywood dance and the traditional dances it came from were originally used for courtship (socializing) and entertainment. BACK
