Light Sensor By Uzair Aakhoon Checked by Talal

Introduction  In this presentation I am going to be explaining what is a Light sensor, how it is used in the industry and how it works.

Contents page  What is a light sensor?  Where light sensors are used?  How Light sensor works?  Project that was done in class

What is a light sensor?  A Light sensor is a sensor that can detect the brightness of the light depending on what it is used for, it can be set to turn on something if the light is too bright or if it is too dark. Some light sensor can be used to activate something such as turning on the light if it is too dark.

Where light sensors are used?  Light sensors are used in many places such as the streets. Many street lights turn on when it is a certain brightness which is during the night. During the night the light sensor is activated leaving the lights on, once the day is brighter such as the morning, the light sensor would be turned of making the street light turning off.  Another thing that uses light sensors are barcode scanners which is used to scan barcodes that help retail shops to check if the product is valid and to find the right amount of price the product costs.  Some phones uses light sensors to automatically change the brightness of the phone. When you are out the phones brightness increase this makes it more visible.

How Light sensor works?  A photocell is what allows the sensor to detect light, this is a small sensor that has a certain resistance depending on the light and place you are in. It can be programed to activate whenever it is light or dark.

Project That was done in class  During the project I had to set up the light sensor using instructions from a website. Whenever the light sensor is blocked it would activate the sound device to make an noise. This can be used to make an alarm if the light was only activated when it is bright.
