What I Want to Know The Story of My Search My Growth as a Researcher My Works Cited

What I Want to Know What makes people want to tan? What makes tanning so dangerous? What are some myths about tanning? How many people tan often? Are there are positives to tanning?

The Story of My Search Easybib is a great website to get your work cited page done, with little work on your part! Knowing a book’s ISBN number is basically knowing all the work cited information! I work with PowerLibrary a lot better now! It’s important to write down most of the information on your bib card. Focus on what your specifically trying to learn, not your whole broad topic.

My Growth as a Researcher I think I’ve grown a lot as a researcher. I’ve learned a lot of new things, and I understand how to use my researching time wisely. I’m still learning but I think I’ve improved a lot already. There’s always more to know, so I learn something new every time I research! I think I could take on another researching project, and do decent!

What Makes People Want to Tan? In the 1920’s tanning became fashionable. Tanning is known to be a sign of good health. Like outdoors and mountain air is a part of nature, sunlight was thought to be naturally good for you.

What Makes People Want to Tan? 42% of people that tanning say it makes them feel healthy. 47% of people say that tanning makes them feel more attractive. 97% of people say that they understand the risks but they tan anyways. Many people think that the suns rays have curing powers.

What makes tanning so dangerous? Sun and tanning beds emit UVA and UVB UVA- penetrates deep into the skin UVB- burns the top layer of skin (cause of sunburn) Tanning (using tanning beds or natural sunlight) increases your chance of melanoma, the deadliest kind of skin cancer, by 75%. Melanoma kills more than 8000 people a year. It is predicted that there will be 1 million new cases of skin cancer diagnosed this year.

What makes tanning so dangerous? Tanning causes premature aging as well. Patients with history of Melanoma were more likely to report with tanning sessions over 20 minutes. When tanning there is a change in structure of your skin. The change in structure is induced by UVB-UVA energy which increases melanocytes- resulting in a tan.

UV rays cause red dry skin, wrinkly skin, damage to eyes (cataracts), and damages your immune system. In a study, it was proved that UV mediated corneal inflammation. Which was caused by over exposure to UV radiation. The UVA rays that penetrate deep into your skin destroy skin fibers and damage elasticity. What makes tanning so dangerous?

UV radiation is the main cause of BCC (basal cell carcinoma) and SCC (squamos cell carcinoma). 23% of people who used sunbeds reported having eczema, psoriasis, or acne/seborrnea. Tanning increases severe acne by 63%.

What are some myths about tanning? Tanning salons lead people to believe that tanning beds have 40% less UVB rays than regular sunlight. FALSE Many people say that tanning makes them feel better, but the only thing about tanning that makes a person feel good, is the warmth of the rays. Like stated earlier, people believed that since sunlight is natural it was good for you. They also believed that the sun has powers which could cure certain conditions.

How many people tan often? 33% of people have been exposed to a tanning bed at least once in there life. Women 45 & under are 60% of tanning bed users. More than 2.5 million people use tanning equipment daily. (mostly teens) Each year 30 million people visit an indoor tanning salon. 11.2% of teen years old tan regularly.

Are there any positives to tanning? Sunlight’s UVB rays are a reliable source of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is one of the most preventive factors in human health Sunlight is the best natural source of Vitamin D. Getting your Vitamin D from sunlight, your body uses what it needs, then de- metabolizes extra. People who live where there’s lot of sunlight have lower death rate from ovarian, breast, and colon cancer.

Are there any positives to tanning? Sunlight’s UV rays are the cure to some things. UV light is commonly used to relieve appearance and discomfort of psorasis. Sunlight is sometimes recommended in treatment for seasonal affective disorder. UV light therapy can be known to cure fungal infections. About 160,000 people are employed in the tanning salon business
