Seaplanes Carry the Mail

 In 1927, Pan American Airways was formed to fly the first airmail route between Key West, FL and Havana, Cuba. Seaplanes Carry the Mail

Key West to Havana, Cuba Sikorsky S-40

 Eventually the route extended to Central America and down the Atlantic coast of South America

Central America And South America (Atlantic coast) Boeing 314

 Pan American built a seaplane to handle the route.  Sikorsky S-40  Could fly 125 mph  Carry 40 passengers Seaplanes Carry the Mail

 Sikorsky S-42  Range of 3,200 miles  The seaplane became known as the Pan American Clipper  Made the first airline crossing of both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans Seaplanes Carry the Mail

 Between WWI and WWII rigid airships rose to their peak in popularity and then completely disappeared from the field of aviation. What About Dirigibles?

 The Treaty of Versailles, at the end of WWI, allowed the Germans to build Zeppelins again and they built three:  LZ-127 Graf Zeppelin  LZ-129 Hindenburg  LZ-130 Graf Zeppelin II What About Dirigibles?
