Ocular Aberrations and Quality of Vision with Aspheric Single-Piece and Spherical Multi- Piece IOL: Contra lateral Comparative Study Ahmed Assaf MD, FRCSEd the author of this poster have received travel expense reimbursement from AMO Company

Intraocular Lenses (IOLs) Spherical aberration (SA) and coma are the commonest HOAs to affect quality of vision Aspheric IOLs with negative SA aim to balance the positive corneal SA, thus reducing the amount of total ocular SA with respect to conventional spherical IOLs

Spherical 3-piece (Sensar AR40e) IOL

Aspheric (Tecnis 1-P, Tecnis ZCB00) IOL OPTIC of the lens has negative spherical aberration of 0.27µm to compensate for average corneal positive spherical aberration

Purpose of the Study To test visual outcomes and higher ocular aberrations of aspheric (Tecnis 1-P) IOL against spherical (Sensar AR40e™) biconvex multi-piece IOL. Both lenses are made of hydrophobic acrylic and by the same company (AMO, Abbott Medical Optics, Santa Ana, CA)

Conclusion Aspheric (Tecnis 1-P) IOL significantly reduce ocular spherical aberration. This is reflected as improved quality of vision mainly in mesopic conditions.

No significant differences regards ocular coma and trefoil of aspheric single piece IOL compared to spherical multi-piece IOL. Thank You Conclusion
