Photography means “drawing with light” In Greek Photos Graphos = Light Writing Term was presented by Sir John Herschel (English, ). There were other name contenders. The Latin would have been Lux Scribe. Luckily, “Hi I’m a luxscribepher” just didn’t take off, but the use and importance of the invention of photography and its applications did.

Optics Camera Obscura, Pin Hole Camera Before the invention of optics in the 1600s, Camera Obscura was just a hole in a wall or tent and the projected inverted image on an opposite wall. It was awkward to view an unsharp and inverted image.
