Egypt Home of the Pyramids By Lam and Abraham

Egypt is located on the continent of Africa. It’s in northeast Africa. Location Egypt is located on the continent of Africa. It’s in northeast Africa.

Land Boundaries Some of the countries that borders Egypt include the Gaza Strip, Israel, Libya, and Sudan.

International Disputes In the past, Egypt had disputes with Sudan over claims in the Hala’ib Triangle but later in the 1899, Egypt signed a treaty and agreed to take away their claims there.

Water Areas Along with all the lakes and rivers on Egypt’s land, all the sea areas within 12 nautical miles of Egypt are claimed by it.

Natural Resources Egypt’s natural resources are oil, natural gas, iron ore, phosphates talc, gypsum, limestone, manganese, lead, zinc, and asbestos.

Climate Egypt’s summers are hot and dry while moderate temperatures occur during the winter.

Terrain Its terrain consists mostly have a vast desert plateau with a few deltas along the Nile Valley.

Population

Government Egypt uses a republic as their type of government. A republic is a form of government where a monarch does not rule, but rather a group of representatives elected by the people pass laws and govern their nation.

Imports & Exports Some products exported by Egypt are oil, oil products, cotton, chemicals, textiles, and metal products, while machinery, equipment, foodstuffs, chemicals, fuels, wood products are all imported to Egypt.

Language The languages that are commonly spoken in Egypt are Arabic, English and French.

Major Cities in Egypt Some of Egypt’s major cities include Cairo, Alexandria, and Al Jizah.

Currency in Egypt Egypt uses a type of currency known as the Egyptian Pound. Ten Egyptian Pounds are equivalent to about $1.83 in U.S. dollars.

Famous International Landmarks One of the best known international landmarks in Egypt is the Great Pyramid of Giza, regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It was originally constructed as a tomb for the Fourth Dynast Egyptian pharaoh Khufu.
