Before Mussolini’s rise to power the Italian king was Victor Emmanuel III. During Emmanuel’s rule in 1919 Mussolini founded the Fascist Party

Only three years after founding the Fascist party Mussolini, along with 50,000 follower, demanded that King Victor Emmanuel III hand over the Italian government to Mussolini Emmanuel, for his own safety gave the country legally to Mussolini Mussolini allied Italy with Hitler’s Germany during World War II

Mussolini lost control of Italy after losing the southern island of Sicily Victor Emmanuel III arrested Mussolini and regained control of Italy on July 25,1943 Mussolini later was caught try to escape Italy disguised as a Nazi officer The next day, on April 28,1945, Mussolini was shot dead and hung in Milan for all to see
