Brozneville By Marcos Gomez And Cesar A.

Great Migration The Great Migration was started by an estimate of 6 million African Americans moving from the South to North. Where they seek economic stability in the North where as they did not find in the south. This led to more mix neighborhoods and a clashing of different culture.

Starting early in the 20 th century most occupied that housed migrated African Americans included the following: Detriot, Chicago, Delaware and New York City. These cities increased dramatically overall 40 percent of its original population because of the migration. Industrial jobs became abundant in these rural areas that attracted not only African American workers but European workers that started to compete for jobs and housing.

Living in Bronzeville The hostile of the recent migrated African Americans and the Europeans drew a bigger altercation between them that eventually led to the African Americans and the Europeans having their own sides in the cities. In the cities of Chicago and New York eventually had there own names which Bronzeville became also known as “black metropolis.”

California During the second migration that took place at the same time of world war II brought over more than 5 million migrate workers stretching between the Midwest and the West. These occupations included moving to the state California where they would live at Los Angeles, Oakland, and Long Beach Many jobs that were offered included mainly in the defense industry and naturally these migrated workers were more educated.

Little Tokyo downfall During world war II After the Bombing of pearl harbor the Japanese that lived in Little Tokyo had to move into interment camps The government could not trust the Japanese that lived in the united states for the possibility of endangering our country. When the Japanese had left eventually the African Americans Took over the neighborhood and that’s when they renamed it for awhile Bronzeville.

Importance of history People would question why the importance of researching the history of Los Angeles would be a topic to research we believe that knowing what was or what is now is of great importance of future generation. Today many people would not know that our flourishing Little Tokyo use to be known as Bronzeville a city that not only introduce a knew form of culture to California but also left its own foot print in the city we know today.
