What is a Zero Energy House?
Presentation transcript:

Net Zero Energy BY DIND

What is net zero energy? Well, Net Zero Energy means that the building or house using net zero will produce more energy than it will use. Even if your understanding of physics makes you go WHUUUUUUUUUUU?!?!? ! This is all possible.

How is this all possible? Well how is this all possible? Basically, it makes more energy than it needs to run. Like if you have a separate building on your property, you can cover it with solar panels to make energy while having more that it needs to run, and that is how Net-Zero is possible. Now where does all this energy go? Well, it goes into the grid.

The effect on the carbon footprint Fox news video

Slate window sills and tri-pane windows. Slate window sills can get heated up by the suns’ rays to naturally heat the house up. Tri-pane windows are windows that have two layers of low emitting glass made of extremely fine glass fibers (E-Glass)and 1 layer of regular glass so it will lose less heat.

This butterfly is pretty scary! Imagine if you had that thing flying around your house! Hide your jam! I like jam!

Fact Flash! Did you know that your windows and doors are the most energy losing place in your house? It’s a good idea to get Tri-pane windows to prevent energy loss ( and to keep out giant butterflies! ).

The U-Factor is... The U-Factor tells the difference between the outside temperature and the inside temperature. The lower the difference, the higher the U-factor that home has. It also measures the rate of heat loss, so the less U- factor your house has the better. One house has a U-factor of only 0.25!

Passive buildings The term Passive building refers to a rigorous, voluntary, standard for energy efficiency in a building reducing its ecological footprint. The result, energy efficiency.

Can you spot the passive buildings on this street? We can't either. See how well they blend in!

Net-Zero neighborhood debate PROS The Net-Zero houses are low energy so then the citizens will be able to save more money and it is very environmentally friendly. This is very good! CONS Net-Zero houses are very expensive and they cost $180/square foot + solar and design. Compared with a regular house, $100/square foot, With a difference of $80.

Fact Flash! Did you know, that if you buy a Net-Zero home you will get money from the power plant and your energy bill won't be, this but this:
