Olivier Callot 21 September 2005Calorimeter configuration DB3 Calorimeter system  The calorimeter has 4 detectors and 3 readout Parts in common, parts are different  ECAL + HCAL Same PMTs, same FE cards, different test systems, LED and radioactive source ( ) HV, gain, delay, … To be loaded in the hardware Each FE card has many configuration parameters Operation mode, pedestal mode, … And part of the configuration is for the L0 trigger  Gain, connected neighbours,…

Olivier Callot 21 September 2005Calorimeter configuration DB4  Prs + SPD Single FE card, but two independent detectors Similar very-front-end: Two ‘half channels’ alternate between integration and reset at each BX. This gives two pedestals, two thresholds,… SPD is only digital Thresholds loaded on VFE board Threshold calibration mode difficult, as we can only get the fraction over threshold, not the signal shape… Prs is analogue 10 bits ADC, plus a trigger bit derived from the ADC value Single HV for 64 channels For Prs and SPD, they use the same tubes

Olivier Callot 21 September 2005Calorimeter configuration DB5 Test systems  Internal FE card tests Inject test patterns (loaded in a FIFO on each FE board channel) Read the answer by another FIFO, usually in the CROC Very useful to test the L0 Calo connections  LED tests Same interface to configure (pulse height, delay) the LED But different grouping One LED lights one (SPD/PRS) or many (9, 16, ?) PMTS Pattern of fired LED pre-loaded in a table  Not all LED in every event !  Each LED event uses a new entry in the table PIN diode to monitor the LED Readout using dedicated FE cards (ECAL,.HCAL)

Olivier Callot 21 September 2005Calorimeter configuration DB7 Expected needs  HV control HV, Cocroft-Walton type 7700 values, only one configuration per PMT No intermediate step in ramping the HV, either ON or OFF.  LED control Around 1000 channels (should check this number), with amplitude and delay Plus tables of pattern to load, 32 x 32 bits for 32 channels.  FE card Delay and gain ECAL + HCAL* 7500 Delay + threshold Prs* 6000 ThresholdSPD* 6000

Olivier Callot 21 September 2005Calorimeter configuration DB8  Global FE cards parameters A few per card = cards  Trigger parameters Gain and Threshold are for trigger Connections, Validation card LUTs Should be covered by Renaud in a few minutes  TELL1 boards No longer any calibration nor ID generation Almost no parameters, except a list of valid input fibres.
