Behaviour during traffic while driving

Being argumentative while in traffic Traffic by itself is already nerve wrecking, and arguing is not going to lead you anywhere. If you are wrong, apologize, and make people around you be influenced by your kindness. “Kindness generates kindness”. Intoxicated driving In case of alcohol consumption or drug usage, do not drive. If the driver is drunk or intoxicated by other drugs, do not get in the car. Taxi cabs, buses and walks are a better option than risking your life. Respect pedestrians and cyclists It is the obligation of every driver to respect other vehicles and pedestrians, and the respect is mutual. Vehicles such as cars are bigger and stronger than pedestrians and cyclists. Do not take advantage of their situation, because the damage on them is greater than the damage on you. Check the mirrors Mirrors inside the car and outside, one in each end (2) allow drivers to see more and further. It allows the driver to see the laterals and behind, without having to do much effort. The correct usage of mirrors is beneficial and a law.

Signalize before turning to any direcions Every car has indicators, which is a signalization system to indicate to other people in traffic which direction you are turning to. By this system, you help traffic and avoid accidents, car crashes or arguments. Turn headlights on at night and in dark places By turning the headlights on at night, it allows the drives to see ahead, beware of what is on the way, and be able to drive safely in the dark. It is not only good for drivers, but also for pedestrians to be aware of cars in the roads. Respect the speed limit / Don’t overspeed There is a limit for a reason. Some roads are more dangerous than others, and it is important to be responsible for yourself and whoever is driving alongside. The speed limit is worked out by engineers who predict dangers ahead of you.

Vehicle’s condition Use seat belt at all times Drivers and passengers should obey the law to wear seat belt at all times. Respect the traffic lights Avoid car crashes, or running over people who are in their rights to cross the road. It is against the law to disobey the traffic light. You must respect it. Green means you are free to go, yellow is a warning to stop, and red is the one where you should not move even 1cm ahead.

Pedestrian Rules

Pedestrians Have Rules Too  Look both ways before crossing the street.  Don’t cross the street when the traffic light is red.  Always signalize before crossing, when there is no traffic light.

Pedestrians Have Rules Too  Pedestrians need to respect drivers, as cars have to respect pedestrians.  If there isn’t pavement to walk on, pedestrians must walk facing the traffic if possible, so they can see oncoming traffic. If not, use the right side of the road.

Pedestrians Have Rules Too  Cross the road before a sharp right turn, the cars are slowing down to turn, and have a better chance of seeing you.  Never walk, or cross behind a reversing vehicle.

Using Mobile Phones While Driving

Cell Phone and Driving Statistics  3,331 people were killed and 387,000 were injured in accidents involving a distracted driver.  Nearly 70% of drivers 18 – 64 reported talking on a cell phone while driving.  About 30% of drivers 18 – 64 reported texting while driving.

The following countries prohibit hand-held mobile phone use while driving a motor vehicle:  Argentina  Australia  Austria  Bahrain  Belgium  Bosnia and Herzegovina  Brazil  Bulgaria  Chile  China  Columbia  Croatia  Cyprus  Czech Republic  Denmark  Egypt  Estonia  Ethiopia  Ukraine  United Arab Emirates Finland France Germany Greece Hong Kong Hungary Iran Ireland Isle of Man Israel Italy Japan Jersey Jordan Kenya Kuwait Lithuania Malaysia Morocco Netherlands New Zealand Norway Oman Philippines Poland Portugal Romania Russia Saudi Arabia Serbia Singapore Slovak Republic Slovenia South Africa South Korea Spain Sri Lanka Switzerland Taiwan Thailand Trinidad and Tobago Turkey

Equipments

Road Safety Equipments  Orange Cones  Spare Tires  Seat Belts  Bike and Motorcycle Helmets  Special Chairs for Babies  Safety Goggles (For Cycling)

Two percent of motor vehicle crash deaths are bicyclists Ninety-one percent of bicyclists killed in 2009 reportedly weren't wearing helmets The percentage not in helmets in 2010 seems to be lower, until you look at the "Unknown" column and find that it jumped in that year.

Seat-Belts

The following map shows countries that have have put seat belt laws into place. Not that most countries in the world all have seat belt laws except for Bolivia, Angola, Niger, Yemen, Liberia, Guinea- Bissau, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, etc.

Seat Belts reduce the risk of injury or death by 50%. Men are said to be less likely to wear seat belts than women. Young adults have the highest car crash injury rates of all adults. Seat Belts and air bags provide the best protection for adults.

Driving Under the Influence

Reaction and thinking process will be a lot slower Full attention is not kept on the road Consequences: Getting pulled over by police and failing the breathalyzer test and loosing your license Endangering anyone who is in the car with you or out of the car Possibility of falling asleep Car crashes and endangering other people’s lives Not only are you endangering yourself but others too Driving while intoxicated or tired

When you drink and drive it Normally will slow your thinking down Drinking makes you tired really quickly We become unfocused on the road and might hit a car or worse die

What is wrong in this Picture ?

The man on the right has given up his responsibility for driving them because he has fallen asleep The man on the left takes the wheel now because the other guy isn`t in a state to drive These are some of the reasons why a lot of accidents like these happen alot

The consequences of using drugs beforehand  You can get pulled over by the police because of the way the driver is driving  When they find illegal drugs in the car there can be a lot of trouble  If you are together with someone who has taken drugs there can also be consequences, such as fatal injuries or even death
