Day 1

Predicates The predicate tells what the subject of a sentence does or is. My family goes on hikes. Hiking is fun.

Let’s try a few together. Underline the predicate in each sentence. We hiked up a mountain. The trail was hard. It climbed up and up. My dad helped me a little. The view of the top was great. I enjoyed that hike.

Now you practice. Draw a line under the predicate Meg stands beside her bus. Meg likes to drive. The children are standing in line. The children are talking on the bus.

Day 2

Circle the predicate in each sentence. My family makes a camp. ***Henry and Mudge went camping. What is the subject of this sentence? What is the predicate of this sentence?
