BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM FOR LIGHTING PRODUCTS Annual technical potential for energy savings from EELs is estimated to be 2,046 GWh. This represents a 65% reduction in direct indoor residential lighting electricity use and a 28% cooling bonus due to reduced air conditioning demand. 92% of the savings is associated with the elimination of incandescent lamps with CFLs. All of the EEL options modelled were found to economically viable in all Emirates. Total Social benefits are estimated to 1.3 billion AED per year 587 million AED for households in lower electric bills 721 million AED for government in reduced subsidies Significant economic benefits for households and government were estimated even under the conservative set of baseline assumptions used in the analysis
