Taxonomy Access Service Suggested Construction Priority: High Core / Non-core infrastructure: Core Motivation: The ability to disambiguate taxonomic names is seen as an essential capability of the LifeWatch infrastructure. The service should support the access to standardized taxonomic sources e.g the Catalogue of Life and the EDIT Cybertaxonomy platform. Potential users: all requiring unambiguous taxonomic information. Known similar item(s): CoL, EDIT Cybertaxonomy platform

… continued Comments: Specialisation of the Feature Access Service Further work is needed to determine what is meant here. Immediate questions arising include: – Is this a service for disambiguating taxonomic names? –Is this an interface to, for example: the Catalogue of Life, and/or the EDIT Cybertaxonomy platform? –Where the description says "write taxonomic information", what does this mean? What are the constraints?
