Active Transport Overview Sometimes cells need to move substances from low concentration to high concentration These substances move up the concentration.
Membrane Transport.  What are some substances commonly transported across membranes?
By Monica 11C. Is the passive movement of molecules, atoms or ions along a concentration gradient, from a region of high concentration to a region of.
Let’s look at one example involving osmosis. Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a semi permeable membrane such as a cell membrane. A semi permeable.
Facilitated Diffusion and Active Transport. Facilitated Diffusion Many molecules and ions need special protein channels to pass through the cell membrane.

Active Transport Uses energy to get stuff across the Plasma membrane

active transport uses energy to send substances against the direction they would travel by simple diffusion: that is from a region of low concentration to a region of high concentration.

Active transport is used to: 1. Concentrate ions, minerals and nutrients inside the cell that are in low concentration outside. 2. Keep unwanted ions or other molecules out of the cell that are able to diffuse through the cell membrane.

This carrier protein uses ATP to move ions across the PM
