Connected Birmingham 2000

Connected Birmingham 2000

Some developments have come into being – the learning quarter in Eastside, inc Millenium Point, Bham Met, BOA, iCentrum, BCU Parkside and the Park and Digbeth with 100’s of creative and digital businesses with the Custard Factory, Bond, Impact Hub, South City College, Fazeley Studios. Connected Birmingham

Some still remain aspirations BIRMINGHAM NEEDLE Digital Media Centre Connected Birmingham

Digbeth in Focus Networks have built up over years, but if we are to achieve critical mass and be a Creative Industrial Powerhouse – then we have connecting work to do. \ Public and private sector partners can create a city space that is vibrant, cool, connected and commercially successful. Adding jobs and economic growth to the city, and a growing creative reputation in the UK and beyond.

Growth of digital agencies producing for the web, apps, games, digital media, comms, platforms and digital content. Tech, IT, software development, data and back end service companies physical and digital infrastructure should enhance companies lived experience, connectivity and drive entrepreneurship Sme capital and 20% job increase in last 3 years Drawing economic activity from London A great offer - quality of life, lower operating costs and a young, educated and talented digital, diverse population Digbeth 2015

HS2 will be a major route which will deliver increased connectivity for digbeth companies to London and Europe Cost effective connectivity will assist companies to pitch and deliver commissions. It will bring London and international creative talent into the centre of the city. Actors and production talent will come in quickly and easily, work and travel back- Or stay! Connected Creative Digbeth

I want to make Birmingham a really exciting and important part of what we do. This is just the start – but make no mistake, if you’re interested in new skills and digital innovation, this is the place to be. Tony Hall Director General, BBC Lest we forget there is a wealth of talent in the city and wider region that is stepping forward. Connected Creative digbeth

In 2015 we are at a point where the Eastside 2000 Vision can be realised. With blossoming smart, creative and digital learning and businesses. HS2 can be a connecting force for Eastside as whole and bring Digbeth into Focus. We need great connecting public spaces in advance of the station. The park has made a difference – public squares and safe streets in digbeth should be next. Connected Eastside

Connected Creative Eastside The Big City plan recognises the importance of creative enterprise to the delivery of the aspirations of HS2’s arrival.

Two practical propositions to drive creative and digital digbeth growth are being developed with BCCP, GBSLEP, Public and Private sector creative industry bodies. Film Hub as recommended by BFI Digbeth Digital Studios Digbeth in Focus

Big City Plan Digbeth in Focus

Film Hub and Studios will be anchors for street development, pedestrian experience enhancement, safety, local transport inc trams and canals. fill the studio gap between Pinewood and doc 10 in Manchester. Encourage arts cultural, creative and tech festivals to blossom and fill the streets and warehouses of Digbeth. Connected Birmingham Digbeth in Focus

Both will increase footfall with the follow on effect of new independent business, services, spaces and culture. All of which will encourage creative and economic activity and a reputation that will travel for Greater Birmingham and its peoples.
