The Liberty Bell The Liberty Bell was made in 1752.

Liberty Bell When it was first made it was called the, "Independence Bell" or the "Old Yankee's Bell"

Liberty Bell The state leaders of Pennsylvania ordered the bell from England. They wanted to have a bell for their “State House.”

Liberty Bell It rang for important national events. People in America knew that it only rang for really special things.

Liberty Bell 1753, the bell cracked the first time it rang.

Liberty Bell Two men were hired to fix it. The men’s last names were Pass and Stow. When they fixed the bell they got to put their names on it.

Liberty Bell July 8, 1776 The day the Declaration of Independence was read, the bell was rung for the important event!

Liberty Bell Americans were trying to get their independence from the King in England. The Bell was used to announce important events during the war for freedom. It was used at the same time that Nathan Hale, George Washington, and others were all fighting for Freedom from the King in England in 1776.

Liberty Bell In 1777 the Bell was taken down so that the British wouldn’t steal it. The Bell was brought back to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Bell continued to be rung for really important events.

Liberty Bell The Bell cracked again in 1832 when it was rung to celebrate George Washington’s birthday. It could not be rung anymore, but it is sometimes tapped carefully for important events.

Liberty Bell In 2003 the Liberty Bell Center was opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. People can go visit the Bell today.
