How might the resources of time and finances impact on resource management for the family in this scenario? Note: Note: The family is a couple that have just had their fifth child. The other children range in age from two to twelve years old. One parent is in paid full-time employment and the other parent is the primary carer. Activity 5a

ResourceIssue / Cause Impact on Resource Management/Effect on Parenting and Caring TIME Newborn child in the family The time required to care for the newborn child means the parents may have less time to do things for the other children. For example - preparing meals. This may lead to quicker options that aren’t as healthy such as ordering lunches at the canteen, takeaway dinners, as well as pre-packaged foods which are often high in salt and fat. This may impact on the families health and physical wellbeing. FINANCES One income in the family Only having one income may mean the family needs to set up a budget in order to manage their finances more effectively. The parents may have to make decisions regarding the activities their children participate in such as sporting activities or school excursions in order to have enough money available for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. a) Explain the impact that time and finances can have on parenting and caring in this family (3 marks) Activity 5b

Activity 6 Reminder: Reminder: The family is a couple that have just had their fifth child. The other children range in age from two to twelve years old. One parent is in paid full-time employment and the other parent is the primary carer. (b)Propose and justify strategies for this family to manage their situation effectively. (5 marks)
