 When you have worked through this you should be able to  Describe the changes in pressure and volume in the left side of the heart during a heat beat.  Recognise and explain the jugular pulse  Explain how they relate to the ECG  Understand the reasons for the first, second and third hear sounds.  Revise concepts of preload, afterload and contractility The cardiac cycle
