Presentation transcript:

Explain how researchers use inductive content analysis on interview transcripts

Inductive Content Analysis Does NOT begin with a hypothesis. Researcher reads through the data looking for “emerging themes” which “jump out”. Explain how researchers use inductive content analysis on interview transcripts

Inductive Content Analysis Need to read the text several times. After the team notes items of interest, they try to group the data into “ higher level themes”. Explain how researchers use inductive content analysis on interview transcripts

Inductive Content Analysis Based on these higher themes (and quotes from the interviews that support them), the researcher then writes an interpretation of the data. Explain how researchers use inductive content analysis on interview transcripts

Inductive Content Analysis The researcher may apply reflexivity at the end. Finally, the interpretation is given back to the interviewee in order to establish….. credibility Explain how researchers use inductive content analysis on interview transcripts

ICA Practicum Read the Transcript of a focus group that will be handed out. Write down the general ideas. Go through it again looking for themes and note/highlight them. Write down the themes you pulled from the transcript Work in groups to see if these themes crosscheck (researcher triangulation to increase credibility) Give me at least 2 hypothesis from your work Write a small paragraph for reflexivity. Things in red I want handed in.
