May 20, 2015 – Oman Energy and Water Conference Service Experiences with the World Record Gas Turbine SGT-8000H Jens Klingemann

Agenda SGT-8000H Introduction Fleet Experience / Operational Status Service-Friendly Design Service Tools Summary

Siemens Large Scale Gas Turbines: Product Portfolio for 50 Hz and 60 Hz SGT5-8000H 375 MW 50 Hz SGT5-4000F 295 MW SGT5-2000E 172 MW SGT6-8000H 274 MW 60 Hz SGT6-5000F 232 MW SGT6-2000E 112 MW SGT-800 50 MW SGT-750 37 MW SGT-700 33 MW SGT-600 25 MW SGT-500 19 MW SGT-400 14 MW SGT-300 8 MW SGT-200 7 MW SGT-100 5 MW Heavy-duty gas turbines Industrial gas turbines

SGT5/6-8000H engine concept is based on harmonization and new technology Siemens V Design Siemens W Design Single tie bolt Compr. stat. design Turbine cylinder Turbine vane carrier Exit housing Front hollow shaft Bearings Compressor cylinder Turbine features Turbine diffuser ULN can-annular combustion system Secondary Air System Harmonized Compressor The SGT-8000H concept uses proven features from Siemens and (former) Westinghouse engines and introduces new technology

Technical innovation as the basis of power and efficiency increase Evolutionary 3D blading Advanced Can Annular combustion system 4 stages of fast acting variable-pitch guide vanes (VGV) allowing for improved part load efficiency and high load transients > 60% combined cycle efficiency Proven rotor design (Hirth serration, central tie rod, internal cooling air passages) for world class fast (cold) start and hot restart capability 3D Four stage turbine with advanced materials and thermal barrier coating High cycling capability due to fully internally air cooled turbine section Transient protection of clearances for reduced degradation with hydraulic clearance optimization (HCO) active clearance control HCO for reduced clearance losses Performance features Flexibility features Designed for >60% efficiency in combined cycle and best in class operational flexibility

Global Fleet Overview of SGT-8000H 50 Hz 60 Hz 15 3 15 4 2 8 8 1 6 Siemens has sold 62 units* worldwide so far H-class fleet has achieved more than 2.200 starts & 131.000 EOH* * 50Hz and 60Hz combined

SGT-8000H Service-Friendly Design Easy-to-service design features Defined combustor handling tool envelope (blue frame) Utilize engine symmetry to optimize maintenance tasks Provides multi-task environment Does not require cover lift for Combustion Inspection Access under engine for tooling installation One toolkit for burner and transition assembly

Simple and efficient service concept with three types of inspections Hot Gas Path Inspection (Rotor in Place) Combustor Inspection Major Inspection (Rotor in Place)

SGT-8000H Core Engine Designed for easy and fast maintenance All rotating blades including compressor are replaceable without a rotor lift. Row 1 Turbine Blades/Vanes/Ring Segments & Row 4 Blades can be replaced with or without cover lift. Roll out/in capability of the turbine vane carrier enables exchange of stationary turbine hardware without rotor lift. Roll out/in capability also allows for optional assembled spare vane carrier exchange concept which further reduces outage durations.

Outage Naming and Duration Name Graphic Duration* 50Hz Duration* 60Hz Combustor Inspection 8 days 7 days Hot Gas Path Inspection 21 days Major Inspection / Outage 29 days with Rotor Lift 35 days Rotor Inspection - * Estimated outage durations for turnkey inspections depending on several conditions (labor, site, etc.) * Shift model: 6 days per week / 2 shifts per day / 10 hours per shift * It’s working days only, counted form turning gear off to turning gear on

SGT- 8000H Service-Friendly Combustor Maintenance Concept Benefits No external crane or other support devices required Easy access for Field Service personnel Better protection of combustor components against handling issues Pre-assembled burner system for fast installation Optimized outage durations due to simultaneous work flow & packaging TLC 44 / TLC45 Single Shaft Configuration Berlin Factory Test Installation and Container Concept Similar baskets and similar assembly procedure for transition Combustor components pre-assembled prior to delivery to site!

Burner and Transition Handling Tool Test Purpose: Dismantling and assembly of transitions and burners Dealing with indoor environment Designed for use of Mobile platform and support cranes Tool 50Hz 60Hz w/o TLC45 10 d 9 d w/ TLC45 8 d 7 d → 20% reduction in Outage duration Tool Test 10 / 2013 in Berlin, Germany (SIEMOPS TG-TG, Shift model: 6/2/10)

SGT- 8000H Plant Platform Concept 3D Plant Design Model Power Plant Concepts with integrated Service Requirements All power plant components included in the design model Simulation of service activities Optimization of overall power plant concept

SGT- 8000H Serviceability 3D model supports service requirements Based on the 3D model the best service concept will be developed and customized, e.g. 1. Rotor Inspection can be conducted on site 2. Upending fixture foundation installed during plant construction 3. Lower cost and higher availability as repair possible without factory visit Destacking Service Option: upending fixture foundation installed during plant construction.

Summary: SGT-8000H benefits Experience & Quality Market leadership @ Siemens quality, proven in >131’000* EOH Arial 16 pt., Line spacing 1.1 lines Fast Outages Short outage times with use of innovative service tools and concepts Serviceability Easy maintenance on site Cost Cost reduction programs and cost benefit for customer Fast Outages Short outage times due to innovative service tools *status December 2014
