Harassment / threats / violence should be reported to the Pro Staff and police immediately. Risk Management / Liability Issues

Accidents occurring in Housing areas must be reported to the Pro Staff immediately.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Transportation of residents by staff in their personal vehicle should never occur under any circumstances.

Risk Management / Liability Issues ◦Do not transport residents to the hospital or have another resident do so – call an ambulance or the police. ◦Do not transport residents to program locations in your personal vehicle – you must have a university vehicle and have viewed the Driver’s Training video in order to do so. ◦Do not coordinate formal car-pooling for transportation to program locations. If car-pooling occurs it must be initiated by residents, not staff. ◦Do not offer yourself as a designated driver.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Policy Enforcement all staff members should enforce all policies consistently every time.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Copyright Laws Staff may not rent movies to be shown for programs unless they are used for educational purposes.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Fire Safety Drills Res Life staff members must be trained on the specifics of their own area.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Make sure evacuation procedures and meeting place are posted in each room or apt. Designate a meeting place for residents to go whenever an evacuation occurs Educate residents on fire safety issues.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Media Under no circumstances should any staff member give an interview to a newspaper (including the Statesman) or TV news reporter as a representative of Housing or the University without approval from John DeVilbiss in the Public Relations Office.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Social Media Staff members should always be mindful of what they choose to post on Facebook and other social media sources.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Master Keys and Door Access Staff members are prohibited from misusing Housing master keys in any way.

Risk Management / Liability Issues Misuse includes - but is not limited to… lending or giving their key or keycard to any other person; leaving their key or keycard anywhere that it can be accessed by any other person; losing their key or keycard and not reporting it to their Pro Staff immediately; giving (or making) key card access for anyone who is not authorized to have access.

Risk Management / Liability Issues *****Any staff member may be terminated for violation of these or any other policies, for any performance related issues, or for any other reason deemed appropriate by the Director of Residence Life.
