Global Warming Emily Neil Charles Bunce Lisa Glowe

Greenhouse Effect The sun radiates thermal energy that the Earth absorbs (sun’s rays). The Earth reemits the energy back as infrared radiation (escaping heat). Some of the radiation is reflected by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere back down to Earth (trapped heat).

More greenhouse gases increase Earth temperatures!

FLOODING Glacial melting (i.e. Greenland) increases sea levels. Scientist foresee a 1m increase in sea levels would threaten 72 million citizens in coastal China alone. The collapse of the W. Antarctic Ice Sheet would potentially increase sea levels by 6m, affecting over 400 million people worldwide.

Drought Droughts in Midwest during the 80s and 90s caused mass migration. Tens of thousands moved, leaving behind ghost towns.

Preventing Pollution is a Solution! Global Warming is a REAL problem affecting the world NOW! It has already diminished the population of Central American Harlequin Frogs and Polar Bears!
