MICE Spectrometer Solenoid Fabrication and Testing UpdatePage 4 Steve Virostek -- Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory -- June 1, 2009 Helium Cryostat Leak Magnet had been completely assembled and cooled to 5K (cold mass) and transfer of LHe was under way After an LHe dewar change, the system was not flowing Vendor suspected an ice blockage and attempted to thaw out fill line with heated helium gas Blockage remained, so vendor attempted to transfer LHe through a vent line An internal leak between the cryostat and the insulating vacuum caused the insulating vacuum to fill with helium After some disassembly, a leak was found in one of the vent lines (likely at a Conflat seal) and has been repaired
