On October 11, 1905, the Winnipeg Public Library’s new building was formally opened. The building, located at 380 William Avenue, was built with a grant from the Carnegie Foundation equal to “ten times the amount guaranteed for annual support by the community.” The City received $75,000 for construction of its first Carnegie Library.
