By-Products Used from Animals  Bones – buttons, glue, oil, minerals  Fat – Salves, creams, dressings, soaps, food, chemicals  Glands – Medicines and food additives  Collagen – glue, gelatin  Intestines – sutures, strings, fertilizer, casings  Hair – brushes, violin strings  Blood – animal feeds

Where did the Species Originate?  Cattle- First introduced to colonies from Europe for meat, milk, and power.  Swine- The popular U.S. breeds were introduced from Europe and the East Indies by Columbus. Used for meat and Lard
