Stages Three stages of cellular respiration: 1. Glycolysis 2. Krebs Cycle 3. Electron Transport Chain

Glycolysis Glycolysis is a series of chemical reactions in the cytoplasm of a cell that break down glucose into two molecules of pyruvic acid and a three-carbon compound Two ATP are used Two ATP are produced and NADH carries electrons

Oxidation of Pyruvate Before the Krebs cycle pyruvic acid undergoes a series of chemical reactions It gives off CO₂ It combines with coenzyme A to form acetyl-CoA

Krebs Cycle Is also known as the Citric Acid Cycle Is a series of chemical reactions and for every turn of the cycle two ATP’s, two CO₂ molecules, and NADH and FADH₂ are produced
