2 Where? 4 Stages Glycolysis Formation of Acetyl Coenzyme A Krebs Cycle
Electron Transport Chain Cytoplasm Mitochondria Matrix of Mitochondria Cristae of Mitochondria

3 Glycolysis Occurs in cytoplasm Where?
Splits glucose into 2 pyruvates (many steps here) Takes 2 ATP’s to split the bonds of glucose Overall 2 NADH are made and 4 ATP, 2 pyruvate Net of 2 ATP Where? Basically does what? How can we break strong bonds of glucose? Overall what is made Net ATP?

4 Formation of Acetyl CoA
Where does pyruvate go? What happens to pyruvate? Any ATP formed? What is added to it? What is wrong with Acetyl CoA Mitochondria CO2 is released from it and a hydrogen is removed, forming NADH No Coenzyme A (vitaminB) and an acetyl group It’s unstable

5 Krebs cycle Where? First Reaction? Overall what is made? Importance?
Matrix of mitochondria Acetyl co A joins oxaloacetate and creates citrate (CoA leaves) NADH, ATP, FADH2, CO2 Creating NADH and FADH2

6

7 Electron Transport Chain
Where? Importance? Final electron acceptor? Cristae of mitochondria Takes the high energy of NADH and FADH2 and turns it into ATP (oxidative phosphorylation) Oxygen which accepts the electrons and makes water!
