Pedigrees

Pedigree charts Show a record of the family of an individual. Can be used to study the transmission of a hereditary condition. Particularly useful when there are large families and a good family record over several generations.

Symbols used in pedigree charts Squares = Males Circle = Females

A- can be either AA or Aa But have same phenotype. A Recessive Trait A- can be either AA or Aa But have same phenotype.

Color Blindness X-linked Trait Some times a half shaded circle or square is used to represent a carrier of a recessive gene

Draw a Pedigree of a color blind woman What would her parents have to be?
