Welcome to Precision Electron Beam Polarimetry for the Electron Ion Collider August 23-24, 2007 hosted by the University of Michigan, Department of Physics
Goals of Workshop This is 3 rd dedicated workshop on precision electron polarimetry: Nov 2002 (BNL), June 2003 (Jlab) Explore and study the electron beam polarimetry issues associated with the EIC to achieve sub-1% precision in polarization determination Exchange of ideas among experts in electron polarimetry and source & accelerator design to examine existing and novel electron beam polarization measurement schemes Formulate concrete goals for a polarimetry R&D effort to achieve CD0 for EIC by the next Long Range Plan Meeting (2013?)
Goals of Workshop Discussion: Which design/physics processes are appropriate for EIC? What difficulties will different design parameters present? What is required to achieve sub-1% precision? What resources are needed over next 5 years? ….
