Upside-down Drawing Product Design Sketching Activity

Why Up-side Down? For familiar objects, we automatically assign a top, bottom, and sides to the things we perceive. In upright orientation, we can recognize familiar things, name them, and categorize them by matching what we see with our stored memories and concepts

Why Up-side Down? When an image is upside down, the visual cues don't match. The message is strange, and the brain becomes confused. We are compelled to see the shapes and the areas of light and shadow

Activity Objectives In this exercise, you will get to perceive things in the visual terms instead of the logical, cognitive conventions develop visual acuity in terms of the spatial relationship of elements in a composition

Instructions Look at the picture being shown upside- down Copy the drawing just as you see it Observe shapes, focus on lines and their relationships rather than naming features Draw slowly
