Presentation transcript:

Scientists (Point of View Guide) For this topic we will discuss the lives of many scientists who have had a major impact on the field of Chemistry – particularly atoms. For this activity, you will be taking on the identity of one scientist. You will first provide written responses to the prompts listed on your “Point of View Guide” sheet to help you become familiar with who “you” are. Once you respond to the questions (and possibly do some additional research), your group must prepare a presentation that describes the scientist’s life and any significant discoveries he has made. During your presentation the class will have an opportunity to ask you questions as if you are the scientist; therefore, you must be well prepared and knowledgeable about who, “you” are. You will be provided with additional information to assist you for your presentation.

Presentation A creative presentation that clearly informs the class of the assigned scientist; One member of each group MUST dress up as the scientist they are presenting Lesson Plan A detailed description of the manner in which the topic will be presented to the class; you must explain exactly who is going to do/say what; any scripts/lyrics should also be provided. Handout/Pamphlet A handout or pamphlet that provides biographical information about your scientist, visuals, and a description of his contributions to the field of Chemistry Participation The ability to productively assist the group as you work towards a final product; group members will complete a group rating sheet Components to be Graded

EXTRA CREDIT OPTION! Groups will receive extra credit if the scientist remains dressed and in character for the entire school day. This will require telling his story to anyone (students, teachers, etc…) who asks.
