São Paulo, Brazil Proposed place for the next meeting of CIE Divisions 4 & 5 in 2004

The City of São Paulo History  Founded in January 25, 1554 by the jesuit priests coming from Portugal on a plateau 2,493 feet (760 meters) above sea level, but only 45 miles (72 km) from the coast  During 450 years the city is experiencing a huge urban growth and an intense economical and social development

The City of São Paulo Has a population of 10.5 Million inhabitants the 4th most populated city in the world And a street lighting system with 525,000 lighting points being presently subjected to a huge modernization program

The City of São Paulo Offers excellent conditions to acommodate CIE members:  Pleasant weather  Good and inexpensive hotels and restaurants  Important Museums and Music Halls  Proximity of attractive places: Rio de Janeiro (50min), Salvador (80min), Brasilia (80min), Iguaçú Falls (90min)
