NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE FRAME OF RURAL CHANGES Regional contexts linked up with the common approach CASEE-Kick-off Meeting at BOKU Vienna st May, 2010 University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture Svetosimunska 25, Zagreb, Croatia

Possible project elements for the common approach  common natural (environmental) problems  common demographic changes in rural areas  common European policies towards rural areas  common environmental, social and economic goals (high quality of environment, resources, products, services and overall living standard in rural areas)

Teaching area: 1. Management of land and water resources  sustainable perspective in view of a future climate change  soils in natural and anthropogenic ecosystems  water resource planning and management  techniques of assessing and handling data related to natural resources in a development context 2. Environmental and rural policy  regional particularities (special qualities) within the common policies  experiences between regions and nations in the service of progress  policies designed for reaching the common goals Common teaching framework

 identifying specific and common elements of natural and rural sensitivities  land and water resource management practices (in pilot areas?)  time series analysis of land use structure (impact on landscape and production structure)  time series analysis of socio-economic impact of changed resource management (population, job diversification and sources of income, living standard changes) Common research framework
